Ascent of Ben Nevis – Saturday 7th September 2019

Supporters of the Marie Curie charity, the Bradford Hospice and going on a trek later this year to Nepal. In doing so they will raise thousands of pounds for this well deserving cause.

As part of their training they decided to ascend Ben Nevis the highest peak in the UK. Nine people attended this event and all successfully completed the walk which is over 10 miles long and has a climb of 4,587 feet.

This is a hard walk, the path surface is composed of uneven rock and boulder. Very difficult to negotiate especially on the way down. Our walk members had slips but nothing serious, unlike others we saw with cuts to a face and a man with a broken leg. He had to be air lifted by helicopter to hospital.

On this day the annual Ben Nevis Race took place. What an amazing sight to see the fell runners go at such a fast speed, both up and down the mountain, This year Finlay Wild won the race with an amazing time of 1 hour 32 minutes and 5 seconds, putting us all in our, not so fit places.
